Golant

Lostwithiel must be the lowest bridging point on the Fowey river. We followed the West bank down towards Fowey itself. Well, in truth, the road is quite well away from the river so we turned towards it to see what Golant had to offer. It was fine. It offered cheap parking, somewhere to sit and enjoy some of the contents of the thermos and lovely views.

The tide was low, so most of the boats were mud bound.

That’s looking east up a side creek.

I went down on the beach.

Others stayed aloft and enjoyed a sit down.

The views were good from there as well.

This was some kind of boathouse. The chap with car and trailer had a chain saw. He was salvaging driftwood as logs for the winter fire.

A paddler came ashore.

China clay is taken down the railway to Fowey harbour. It passes by Golant and the slipway to the beach passes over a level crossing.

Some worm diggers came on a worm hunt.

And then a bird spotter arrived.

That’s some slope!

We headed off down to Fowey itself.
