7th August - Farewell, Daliburgh

In a couple of full days and a bit I had fallen in love with South Uist but for us it was time to move on. By the end of the day we needed to have driven more than a hundred miles and taken a ferry crossing. So it was time to get weaving. But before we go, let’s take a look around the flat.

It was really a ‘bedsit’, with sleeping area, sofa and kitchen all in one space.

The sitting area looked at a big flat screen telly and the view over ‘Swan Loch’

There was a dining table and another chair. My trusty old laptop was saying ‘Happy Anniversary, it being our 39th wedding anniversary on that day. We even had a good sized lobby for dumping our junk.

We packed up a car and departed for the north. But a couple of last looks at Daliburgh came first.

After the previous day of rain we were blessed with much kinder weather and I was happy to see the remains of another ‘black house’ between Daliburgh and Lochboisdale. We went there for petrol, which was a full 20p per litre more than I’d have paid on the mainland. But beggars can’t choose and I suppose we did our bit for the South Uist economy.

I had started in South Uist with the services on offer but I had missed out on the ambulance station. So let’s finish with that before taking the road up towards Benbecula.
