We made it on to North Uist and decided to take the long way round, via the west coast road.

We found a place to stop and enjoy a cup of coffee. It was hard to identify the place by name but it was near Hougharry marked with the arrow, above.

There was a wonderfully blue sky which complemented so well the yellow lichen on the roof of this unused and somewhat derelict house.

We found a lovely beach and way out at sea there were islands.

A delightful beach had a boat moored by a rock..

The beach might have been considered as ‘any port in a storm’ – but there certainly was no storm.

More islands.

This set of islands baffled us at the time for we couldn’t sort out directions – so a decision comes later. The island above, with the lighthouse on the high point at the left, must be Haskeir

So what of the more rugged looking first set of islands.

They are the line of little islets, the Hasgeir Eagach. We were looking from the south east and see the gaps between the five peaks.

There’s the two islands with some information. Rubha Griminis is at the north west of North Uist.
We were disappointed that we could not see St Kilda, more like 40 or so kilometres out to sea. The visibility wasn’t good enough.
