Woodchurch

Woodchurch features in the family history story. It was the birthplace of my great great aunt, Caroline Lucy Rebecca Kesby on 1st August 1875. So clearly my G G Grandmother, Caroline Kesby (née Mallion) must have been there at the time and at a guess, G G Grandfather Fred Kesby was there too, along with their first born, Sarah Jane Kesby who was my great grandmother.

Not that you need family history as a reason to visit Woodchurch for it is a delightful village anyway.

Well there are some of the features on the village sign.

Woodchurch is built around a very pleasant green. This shot shows it devoid of people, but in fact there were people picnicking in shady spots.

There are delightful houses in Woodchurch.

This one is just wonderful.

Here’s the village pump, which featured on the sign.

The Methodist chapel has its own graveyard, delightfully awash with daisies along with a scattering of buttercups.

A car drove past us and stopped at the pub – a Jaguar, I believe.

Beyond the houses we could see the mill. It looked more complete than it had on a previous visit some 6 years before.

We made our way to the windmill – an ongoing restoration project. At this time the balcony was being renewed

From the mill there was a view to the church and inside the mill there was s till a sack stencil hanging up.
