Portree

Portree is Skye’s capital. We paid it a visit and, perhaps, left just a bit disappointed for it seemed wholly geared to the tourist trade. But there was still a place to enjoy.

The Portree Highland Games were due to start the next day and the piping had begun already. This led to many a man walking around in the kilt.

The harbour area looked lovely.

We made our way to the harbour front, with its colour wash houses reminiscent of Tobermory on Mull.

There are always new attractions for kids. Here we have floating in a bubble. They seemed to enjoy it. I ought to add that this activity was very well controlled.

A harbour view. Note a gull in shot. There now come those inevitable close up of gull photos.

A gull and a feller!

A bit of Portree history on a restaurant sign.

A hooded crow perches on a boat.

Harbour front views at Portree.

We failed in an attempt to check emails etc. The library was having window work done and most of its computers were out of use. We headed up the east coast.
